Privacy Policy

Venture is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use the Venture mobile application.

By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and date of birth. Your date of birth is used to determine your eligibility for age-restricted features such as Party mode and drinking-related tasks; an age verification status is derived from this information. We do not collect your full name, address, or payment card details at this time.

Profile information: You may optionally upload a profile photo, which is stored in our secure cloud storage.

Location data: With your permission, we collect approximate location data to show you relevant city-based hunts and to auto-detect your city. We do not continuously track your location in the background.

User-generated content: Photos and videos you submit as hunt proof are uploaded to our cloud storage and may be visible to other participants in the same hunt. If you report content or another user, we collect the report details you provide, including the reason for the report. If you block another user, we store that you have done so in order to filter their content from your view.

Usage data: We collect data about how you interact with the app, including hunts joined, tasks completed, and scores. This helps us improve the experience.

Device data: We may collect basic device information such as device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting purposes. If you enable push notifications, we also collect a device push token used solely to deliver notifications to you.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Operate hunts, track scores, and power the real-time leaderboard
• Generate personalized hunt tasks based on your preferences
• Display your submissions to other hunt participants
• Communicate with you about your account or the app
• Improve and develop new app features
• Enforce our Terms of Service and protect the safety of our users

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

Venture uses the following third-party services to operate the app. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Supabase (supabase.com) - database, authentication, and file storage
• Expo / Expo Application Services (expo.dev) - mobile app infrastructure
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (firebase.google.com) - Android push notification delivery. Your device's push token is passed through this service solely to deliver notifications to your Android device; no other information is shared with Firebase.
• Sentry (sentry.io) - crash reporting and error diagnostics.
• Nominatim / OpenStreetMap (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) - city and venue search autocomplete. Text you type while searching for a city or venue is sent to this service to look up matching locations.
• Anthropic (anthropic.com) - AI-powered task generation. Hunt preferences you enter (vibe, occasion, custom notes) are sent to Anthropic's API to generate tasks. If you include names, nicknames, or other personal details in your custom notes, that information will be included in the request - avoid including sensitive personal information you wouldn't want processed by a third-party AI service.
• Brevo (brevo.com) - marketing email. If you check "Send me updates about new cities and features" at signup, your email address is added to our mailing list to send you occasional updates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any marketing email.

We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Hunt data, scores, and submissions are retained indefinitely to power leaderboards and history. If you delete your account, see Account Deletion below for exactly what is removed, anonymized, and retained.

5. Account Deletion

You can delete your Venture account at any time, directly from the app — no need to contact us.

How to request deletion: Open the app and go to Profile → Account → Delete Account. If you're currently hosting a hunt that's in progress, we'll show you a warning first, since other players may be mid-experience. Confirm by typing DELETE. Your account is deleted immediately — there is no waiting period.

What is deleted immediately:

• Your login credentials — you will no longer be able to sign in with this account
• Your email address and username — replaced with randomized values that don't identify you
• Your profile photo, date of birth, and push notification token — removed from your account

What is retained: To preserve the accuracy of hunts, leaderboards, and other players' history, some records tied to your account are kept rather than deleted, but are no longer linked to your name, email, or any other identifying information:

• Hunts you participated in, your scores, and completed tasks
• Photos and videos you submitted as hunt proof, which may remain visible to other participants in hunts you took part in
• Reports you filed and users you blocked
• Notifications and leaderboard history

These records are retained indefinitely, associated only with an anonymized account identifier. If you'd like us to also remove content such as your hunt-proof photos, contact us at hello@venturerace.app — we'll review the request, though content tied to another user's completed hunt history may need to remain.

6. Children's Privacy

The Venture app is not intended for users under the age of 13. Party mode, which includes drinking-related tasks, is restricted to users who have verified, based on date of birth provided at signup, that they are 21 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete that information promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent for location access at any time through your device settings

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure cloud storage, and row-level security on our database. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
